newlogosmallProceed to Register Now for the full course calendar. This course consists of detailed practical skill training, on lot classroom style training, home study reading material, and quiz. Prerequisites: The minimum learning age is 18 for the New Rider Skills Course. Students must carry a Class 5 or better license (GDL permitted) as a prerequisite to participate, thus expected to know the provincial and municipal rules of the road and the contents of the Class 5 Handbook. Students are required to read the Class 6 Handbook prior to coming to class (as the home study portion, links are available on the Links page of our website.  If this is not done, students may be required to register into another course at the students expense). The experience and ability to currently balance and ride a bicycle is also required (if this is not done, and balance is an issue, students may be required to register into another course at the students expense). Students are not required to have the completed written portion of the Class 6, however it will be required to register for your road test. **Completion of the New Rider Skills Course qualifies for insurance discounts.** **The Edge Motorcycle Training Inc. and our instructors are Alberta Transportation Licensed.** The course includes group style instruction and discussions, skill demonstrations, skill practice with immediate feedback provided.  This course is designed as progressive learning of each skill/component, thus safety standards require that each student must successfully complete each skill/component prior to proceeding to the next.  If the skill requirements can not be met during the allotted time of the exercise, this creates a safety issue, and the student will be offered more private instruction prior to continuing with a new course date (used as a continuance of their current course).  In this case, the student is not denied the service, it is just redesigned to more appropriately suit the individual learning pace and to ensure safety standards are met.  Should that student decide that they don't want to proceed with the new individual learning pace, our service and any obligation will be considered fulfilled and complete.  If the student attends the course, then during the course decides they do not wish to continue for any reason, our service and any obligation will be considered fulfilled and complete.  The course is made available to all students that are in attendance at the time of the course, we do not deny service to anyone in attendance of the course, with exception to those that violate the Driver Training Contract.  Once the student is in attendance of the course, and the course has commenced, our service and any obligation to the student will be considered fulfilled and complete.

When you are ready to book your road test, you will follow the step by step booking instructions that we will provide you during the course. Keep in mind that you will need your course completion certificate to book your road test appointment, and it cannot be done prior to completion of the course (to avoid wrongful or accidental bookings). The day of your test, you will meet the examiner at our facility to conduct your road test. If you would like to view the available testing dates, you may check out the calendar in the Road Test Motorcycle Sign Up. Your included motorcycle use for the road test must be used in 2018. If you plan to use your motorcycle for the road test, then disregard these instructions, and book at your chosen registries office.  Students attending a course at the end of the season, may not have enough time to prepare for the road test on our schedule.
